Glitter Gal - Silver

 As you may have gathered, I'm a tad obsessed with the Glitter Gal holographic nail polishes. When I noticed I was running low on my China Glaze silver holo polish, OMG, I decided it would be a good idea to try Glitter Gal's Silver to see how it performed against OMG.

The first thing I noticed was how Silver looked far more holographic in the bottle. It also appeared to be more shimmery, even though both are linear holos.
Silver has less of a greyish tone than OMG, something that is more apparent once it's applied to the nails.

Whilst OMG takes two coats, to get a good, solid holo with Silver, you'll need three thin coats as it isn't quite as opaque as OMG.

This is the only downside to Silver, in every other respect, it beats OMG hands down.

Although Silver is thinner than OMG, this isn't a problem. OMG has a tendency to pull away from the nail in areas as you apply, leaving you with small bare patches. Silver doesn't do this at all, it goes on & stays where you applied it.

Because of its thinner, slightly runnier texture, having to use three coats to achieve an opaque finish isn't a problem, there's no thick build-up, meaning it won't chip as easily.

The holo effect in Silver is absolutely beautiful, it really pops in sunlight. Even in lower-lit conditions, it is still apparent.

Because of its better texture, slightly more vivid holo effect & the lack of the slight grey tone, I'd choose Silver over OMG every time. Add in the fact that OMG is discontinued & can be hard to find, not to mention that it can fetch a pretty penny, it really isn't a hard decision to make.
